Heritage Days returns this year for the 7th Annual series of events celebrating the rich history of the West Bottoms, one of the Region's oldest neighborhoods and commercial districts. Events will begin on May 1st and conclude on May 14th.

This year's schedule includes the following:

May 1: Missouri Valley Sunday Series at the Central Library. Engineered Irony: Crossing Octave Chanute’s Kansas City Bridge for Teams and Trains, 1867-1917.

May 1, 11am - 2pm: International Workers Day Food Truck Picnic at Hickory Street and 14th Street (under I-670). Speakers, food and entertainment at one of KC's newest public spaces.

May 7: Wettest Block Party at Ninth and State, 1717 West 9th Street. Celebrating the history of the "Wettest Block in the USA", this is part of First Friday Weekend in the Bottoms. Several bands will perform including The Grisly Hand.

May 14, 11am - 2 pm: 4th Annual Breaking Bread Picnic at Lemonade Park in the Stockyards Disrict on Liberty Street, sponsored by UMKC's Center for Neighborhoods. Neighborhoods from throughout Kansas City celebrate their mission and work to build capacity among neighborhood associations.
